In this age of global economic downturn, it is a wise move by Samsung to release a budget phone that does the work of a basic mobile phone. No more fancy features, sleek designing and casing materials that make phones more and more expensive. This phone is pure utility and functionality. Just what you need when using a mobile phone. Set to be released in the 2nd quarter of the year 2010, there has been no official word yet on the price. But it is expected to fetch a price of not more than a hundred pounds. That comes as very affordable to regular mobile phone users.

Battery Life

Above the rest of its kind, it comes with a battery that supports up to 20 hours of talk time and up to 1,040 hours of standby time. Surely, this phone is meant to accompany you in your travels, be it for leisure of business, or when you want to go in zones where power supply is a problem. Aside from the staggering battery life, it also has a torch that comes in a handy when outdoors, like when camping or night hiking. This makes this mobile phone a multi-purpose tool for the outdoors loving individuals.

Aside from the battery life, among its less understood yet important feature is its ruggedised design. Rubber - coated, it is shock, dust and splash free making it a perfect adventure phone. It has an IP 54 certification to back up the claim by the manufacturer.

Multi-media Functions

The Samsung E2370 features a player that supports a lot of audio formats, including MP3 and MP4. It also has FM stereo and recording capabilities. The dual speakers allow for better music streaming experience. Audio files storage maybe wanting with its limited internal memory that is capable of storing up to a thousand phonebook entries. This, however, is expandable via the Micro SD card slot. The expansion allows you to store audio files of your choice if you want to. The USB based connectivity allows you to transfer files from your PC to your mobile phone and back. Transfer rates can be a bit disappointing but is already good given that it is a budget phone. Other phones of this range do not allow you to do this.

Do not expect to get 3G support but it is basically capable of voice calls and short messaging as every mobile phone should be. Instant messaging is also not supported. At the back of the phone is a VGA camera that is capable of taking moderately good photos and makes the phone capable of photo call. It is said to be also capable of video recording but we doubt if you will like the video quality that it can produce
